Terms of Service

Last updated: May 14, 2026

Agreement

By installing or using Readalo ("the Extension"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install or use Readalo.

Description of service

Readalo is a browser extension that reads webpage text aloud using text-to-speech technology and provides synchronized word highlighting. The Extension is available in a free tier (using built-in browser voices) and a paid Plus tier (using Kokoro neural TTS voices).

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Readalo to scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content from websites.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension.
  • Redistribute or resell Readalo or any part of it.
  • Use Readalo in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
  • Use Readalo to infringe on the intellectual property rights of website owners or content creators.

Intellectual property

Readalo and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Jake Evans and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. The Extension is licensed to you, not sold.

Third-party content

Readalo reads text from third-party websites at your direction. We do not own, control, or endorse any content on websites you visit. You are responsible for ensuring your use of Readalo complies with the terms of service of the websites you access.

Kokoro TTS

The Plus tier uses Kokoro, an open-source text-to-speech engine. By default, Kokoro runs locally on your machine. If you configure a remote Kokoro server, you acknowledge that:

  1. Text from webpages will be sent to that server for audio generation.
  2. You are responsible for selecting and trusting the server you connect to.
  3. Readalo is not responsible for how third-party servers handle your data.

Payments and subscriptions

The Plus tier requires a paid subscription. Pricing is displayed before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us if you have concerns.

Availability and updates

We may update, modify, or discontinue Readalo at any time without prior notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Browser updates or website changes may affect functionality.

Disclaimer of warranties

Readalo is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Extension will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jake Evans shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of Readalo, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Jake Evans from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of Readalo or your violation of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the state in which Jake Evans resides.
